I want this to connect to the Prelogon connect to wireless network? Hi, We've got a HP b laptop with a broadcom wireless card in. I want this to connect to the network at logon so users can login wirelessly.
I've installed the broadcom wireless utility to help do this, but I can't find the option to do so, there is a bit in the help that talks about an admin utility to do something like this, and to use --enable when you install the utility.
I've never done this before and don't understand! Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm not tied to the broadcom utility, so if there are other ways to do it, I'm interested too! Improve this answer. Helvick Helvick Has Anyone got this working for Windows xp sp3? The netsh wlan command mentioned in the KB above doesnt exist in windows xp sp3 so I cant change the authentication type to machine rather that user. I also tried the reg key for wireless and it didnt work. I have checked that the drivers are up to date.
Tried disabling the option to have the computer turn off the adapter to conserve power. I tried with windows managing the connection as well as the intel software utility. I then went as far as to uninstall the Intel Wifi Management software and replaced it just with the adapter drivers but nothing is working. I poked around in the adapter settings but don't see anything that stands out to be as helpful.
However; one of the comments in that how-to did solve my problem. The profile was set to "only me" so simply deleting the profile and reconnecting to the wifi solved the problem.
I'm still curious why only the machines with the centrinos were affected but maybe the management software defaults profiles to "only me" or something.
I feel kind of silly that it was this easy. This is standard behavior. Windows doesn't connect to wireless before login unless the network is configured via GPO. Have you checked out this how to? Each of the mobile devices even aside from these 75 laptops connects fine for the first domain log in. The devices is joined to the domain using a local account and the wifi network, a reboot performed, and then AD credentials are added.
I am ONLY seeing this behavior with these adapters, it has to be something with the adapter not my network configuration as all other adapters do not exhibit this behavior.
Ew, you don't have to rude. I hadn't seen your post yet upon my reply which was referring to the comment that it is standard behavior. I am in the process of trying that as well as something in the comments of that how-to about the profile being set to "only me" which it is on at least one of the machines, but I can't see where to change that.
